Example Flow Diagram for an Agricultural Anaerobic Digestion Installation
There is an excellent free downloadable presentation from a TUHH, Department of Waste Management Workshop in Anaerobic Digestion and Production of Biogas, Prof. Dr.-Ing. R. Stegmann, Dipl.-Ing. Olaf Bade, Chimatra Workshop 2005, which contains many valuable slides.
One if these slides, is of particular interest to the farming community, as duplicated below.

Slide 26 appears to have been produced by Entec GMBh, with the following design data given on the same slide:
- Substrates: cattle manure, corn
- Input: 801 Mg/week (fresh)
- TSS = 6,6 kg/Mg
- VSS = 5,3 kg/Mg
- Reactor volume: 2500 m³
- Detention time: 20 d
- Volume Load:
- Yields:
- Electric Power: 40655 kWh/week
- Thermal Power: 55435 kWh/week
We cannot be sure for how long the presentation will be available online, but while it is click here.
With the thermal power output quoted here, being larger than the electric power yield, it is clear that any on-farm project will benefit hugely if there is a ready user for the thermal power in the form of a CHP (Combined Heat & Power) scheme partner/user, or even better, an on-farm use for this energy.
Please note that there is no indication whether the electric power quoted is after parasitic loads have been deducted, or not.
